Day 22: Saint-Géry to Cahors

~15 miles, relatively flat and no services

Today was a big day of walking! Even after 3 weeks, 15 miles is hard. We made our way through relatively flat terrain, mostly following the Lot River. Our day ended in Cahors, the largest town we had been in since Figeac. It’s always a little strange walking into a larger town after spending days or weeks in very rural places. It makes me feel a little like an alien coming from an entirely different world.

We stayed the night at the Hostelling International Auberge, which was fine, but definitely not our favorite place we’ve stayed on this trip. It felt very industrial with little charm or coziness; a definite departure from the places we have been staying. However, we did have a very nice dinner at a local restaurant.

It was also our final evening with our friends René and Linda from Quebec. We celebrated with drinks on the rooftop deck of the hostel and hoped that we would all cross paths again in the near future!
