About Lauriel-Arwen

I was raised in the Pacific Northwest and currently live in Portland, Oregon. I am a writer, educator, photographer, and nature nerd. My favorite way to spend time is walking and hiking, especially in temperate rainforests when it’s lightly raining and about 50°F (but, really I will walk wherever I am in whatever weather there happens to be). I recently earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Portland State University, where I explored narrative research and embodied learning practices — my dissertation focused on walking as a way of knowing. I am drawn to themes of slowness, placemaking, and the ways in which people connect to and learn from the natural and material world.

This blog is how I share my experiences and ideas with others; through art, photography, writing, and more. I am always trying to make sense of the world and to understand what it means to be alive as a human being. I hope that this blog inspires others to find their own unique path of curiosity and wonder; finding ways to fully connect with ourselves, the land, and the communities where we spend time.
