~15 miles (11 by car, 4 walking)
Another short day of walking. Our gracious host was heading our direction and offered to drive us. We still wanted to walk some so asked to be dropped off along the way. One rest day has turned into many, but we start walking again tomorrow, so hopefully we will be stronger for it!
The few miles we did walk, reminded me of being on the Camino Frances (in Spain), as the trail followed gently rolling hills and soft landscapes where my mind had time to wander instead of focusing on my foot placement to avoid falling off a cliff. The beauty of the first part of the Via Podiensis cannot be denied, however the challenge of the trail made it hard simply walk and be in nature (with a few exceptions). This was an interesting feeling for me and was unexpected. It makes me wonder about future walks and how to find the kinds of places where contemplation and quite immersion can be the focus.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Figeac. It is a slightly larger town with more amenities and fantastic terraces where you can wile away the afternoon drinking local beer and wine and snacking on ice cream or savory treats. The town itself has a gorgeous medieval core with winding streets and ancient buildings.
It was also the last time we would see our Australian friends, John and Ann, who we met our first day walking, as they are moving on to other adventures. We hope to make it to Australia for a visit one day soon!

We were lucky enough to be here on a Saturday when they have their market, which seemed to fill the entire town.

Dinner was incredible, as usual. We went out to eat at a very nice restaurant, La Puce à l’Oreille. August had duck bread and I ordered the fish of the day. They played Dolly Parton and we drank local wine. It was a perfect evening.
