Day 13: Conques to Livinhac-le-Haut

~15 miles (bus from Conques to Decazeville and then we walked ~4 miles from Decazeville to Livinhac-le-Haut)

Today was a simple day and mostly a rest day. We spent the morning in Conques and then took the Malle Postal bus to Decazville, where we walked about 4 miles to Livinhac-le-Haut. We thought a short day would be a good way to remind our bodies that we will be walking again soon, but also not to overdo it right away. The short walk was lovely and we are entering a part of the route that is more rolling hills, less vertical trail. The towns we passed through were also less touristy, which was a nice change of pace and helped us to feel a little more comfortable in our surroundings.

The highlight of our day was our gîte for the evening—La Vita è Bella, Biogîte, run by an eccentric and charming Italian man, Andrea. August quickly made friends with him as they connected on art, and philosophy, and meaning making. Andrea was also an amazing cook and put together the most delicious and beautiful Italian meal of pasta, salad, chocolate mousse, red wine, and herbal tea. The place and the food and the community were pure magic; truly a highlight of this trip!
