~12 miles, rolling hills
The day began with a light, misty rain and lovely forested paths. We stopped for tea and ice cream at Domaine du Sauvage, a well known, and loved, pilgrim accommodation along the way. We continued through managed forests and open fields and I think our bodies are starting to feel the strain of walking about 50 miles at this point. I wish I had scheduled a rest day a little sooner, but oh well, we are managing and are still having an amazing time. All in all, today ended up being about 2 miles longer than the guide books said and we felt it. Luckily our dinner (at Les Drailles de la Margeride where we were staying) was once again amazing: salad with a handmade chèvre and honey pastry, pork and mango curry, a cheese course, and possibly the best crème brûle I have ever had. I also finally found a French cider! This isn’t really the region for them, but I’ll keep looking!
